Vendors presented and showcased four small craft on the water for Marine Forces Reserve, the Defense Innovation Unit and Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory at a small-boat evaluation and demonstration event on Nov. 2, 2022, at the 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion headquarters in Tampa, Florida. The Marine Corps Reserve is preparing to support hands-on concept experimentation in littoral operations in support of Force Design 2030 capability development efforts. As this DIU-led acquisition process unfolds, MFR is on track to have registered the need for expeditionary small craft from commercial industry and then work with top-tier DoD units to purchase critical equipment with exclusive Reserve-only funds for Service-level testing and evaluating in less than a year.
