221205-N-DP708-2001 SAN DIEGO (Dec. 12, 2022) A stamp design of a new Sailor “getting his sea legs” aboard Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). The purpose of the graphic was to give new Sailors aboard Vinson an iconic view when checking aboard the ship. The Sailor’s design is inspired by classic Navy propaganda art, except this Sailor has a modernized dress blue uniform, carrying a sea bag and backpack while walking through the ship. The background is a vector recreation of a Sailor sweeping in the hangar bay of Vinson with stylized ocean waves outside the ship. The black and white color scheme references the how ink is stamped onto the paper. The texture and borders were meant to invoke a vintage postage stamp on a wooden desk.
