The United States Marine Corps Noncommissioned Officer is unique among all other services, they are taught to lead younger, train harder, and think smarter than any other service. The significance of the blood stripe in the United States Marine Corps is to honor the Battle of Chapultepec and the heavy losses of NCO's and Officers that were sustained during the battle. The legendary symbol not only inspires Marines today to be the best, but also reminds the United States Marine Corps of its warfighting roots. Marines continue to be the deadliest fighting force the Nation has to offer and as seen in the 247th Marine Corps birthday message, Marines don’t lay awake at night worried about the enemy, we keep the enemy awake.
