    Days of Remembrance Observance Poster

    Days of Remembrance Observance Poster

The 2023 Department of Defense’s Days of Remembrance poster consists of a grey, matted paper style background.

Situated in the center and taking up most of the poster is a black, woodcut style image of a glass jar. Multiple, horizontal alternating lines in black and grey giving the jar its shape. Within the jar and extending out the open mouth, is a black, woodcut image of a multi branched tree and leaves. At the base of the tree is a supporting mound with grass and flowers.

To the right of the tree is the image of an adult woman and young girl walking away from the viewer. Superimposed on the supporting mound with grass and flowers, are three paper banners that wave and fold across the base of the tree. The first banner reflects the first part of the observance theme in capitalized black font, BEHIND EVERY NAME A STORY:. A second banner, slightly below and to the right of the first banner, reflects the remainder of the theme in capitalized black font, THE WOMEN. The third banner, slightly smaller and situated below the first banner, contains the phrase, THE IRENA SENDLER STORY, in capitalized black font.

Centered at the poster’s bottom is the observance title in capitalized black font, DAYS OF
REMEMBRANCE. Centered beneath the observance title in capitalized black font is the
    observance date, APRIL 16-23.

At the poster’s bottom left corner are the seals for the Department of Defense and the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI). At the poster’s bottom right corner is a black symbol depicting a microphone and a quick response code (QRC), which when scanned with a mobile device, will open an audio narration with this poster description. Above the QRC is a second QRC, which directs an individual to DEOMI’s website, www.defenseculture.mil.
