231211-N-SS900-1001 SAN DIEGO (Dec. 11, 2023) A command patch created to represent commander, Submarine Squadron (CSS) 11. The color scheme was sampled from the NWU Type III uniform camouflage pattern. Aspects of the command crest reside on the left side of the patch. The silhouetted San Diego skyline behind the submarine represents the command's home port. The submarine in between the two pillars, which also spells "11," represents the maintenance of submarines under the command's care. The Latin motto "Defensor Pacis" on the base of the patch stands for "Defender of the Peace." (U.S. Navy photo illustration by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Aaron T. Smith)
