231216-N-TL932-1001 PHILIPPINE SEA (DEC. 15, 2023) This layout was created for use in “Wingspan”, a newsletter aboard Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), Dec. 15, 2023. The purpose of this layout is to inform Sailors of the boxing club aboard the ship. The paper was colored and texturized to look distressed in order to embody the grungy feel of old boxing posters from the Muhammad Ali era. The title was placed in a black frame to contrast the beige background, drawing the reader’s attention. The photograph chosen was pulled from DVIDS because it depicts a U.S. Navy boxer punching a U.S. Army boxer. The text “where, when and how” was placed in that order to create a progressively narrowing look and or natural finish when read top to bottom. The position and names of the boxing club’s cabinet were placed at the bottom in order to give credit to its members while not distraction from the informative text above. The positions were ordered by importance. (U.S. Navy Layout and Design by Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Joshua Sapien)
