Effective July 1, 2008, the 341st was redesignated a missile wing. Headquartered at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana, it is one of three U.S. Air Force Bases that operates, maintains and secures the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). The significance of this symbol is that blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The stars indicate the unit’s predecessor and the Wing’s support of the Air Force mission of air defense. The winged hilt symbolizes the unit as an air arm in the total national defense. The lightning bolts indicate the speed and striking power of the Wing in the defense of peace. While not authorized for wear as a wing designated design, this version of the patch is for our public-facing platforms, including the internet and social media.
