Father’s Day was initiated by Sonora Smart Dodd in 1910, to honor her father, a Civil War veteran, who raised her and her siblings after their mother passed away during childbirth. Joint Base Langley-Eustis wishes all the fathers across the nation a happy Father’s Day. The graphic was made at JBLE, Virginia, June 7, 2024, with a silhouette of a father and child representing fathers across all services by the water that surrounds the base, along with two F-22 Raptors and a Chinook flying in the background in part thanks to the dedication of fathers who continuously sacrifice and work to ensure JBLE’s air and land dominance.
