COE 2.0 Champion: Q&A with a Suicide Prevention Program Manager
We sat down with CWTCS K. Lance Hall, who leads the Suicide Prevention Program at NIOC Georgia to learn more about how the program impacts the daily lives of Sailors and brings the US Navy's Culture of Excellence 2.0 to life in the fleet.
Senior Chief Hall emphasized the Suicide Prevention Program's focus on Sailors' experiences, noting the passion and desire to help everyone, regardless of military affiliation, including civilians, despite their service branch.
As the biggest resource, the Mental Health Playbook defines the importance of overcoming stigmas of suicide. CWTCS Hall continuously promotes Culture of Excellence 2.0, especially by focusing on Warrior Toughness tools. Hall finds importance behind the education of the LivingWorks courses of SafeTALK and ASIST which educated 320 Sailors in SafeTALK and 220 Sailors in ASIST at NIOC Georgia.
Sailors' positive feedback on the Suicide Prevention Program at NIOC Georgia encourages openness and acceptance, fostering a culture of hope and support for mental health struggles.
"Culture of Excellence is the U.S. Navy’s way of defining principles to be a good Sailor and human. If we all align ourselves to follow these principles, we can create an environment to see people grow professionally and personally. I am fortunate to be a part of the Suicide Prevention Program at NIOC Georgia and see Culture of Excellence at work. One act of kindness can change someone's life, whose life are you changing today?" - CWTCS Hall
