History of the Crossbow Stitched Together

JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. – The 633d Air Base Wing’s crossbow patch can be traced back to Pleiku in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Airmen with the 633d Combat Support Group from Anderson Air Base, Guam, offered medical and infrastructure aid when establishing a relationship with the local Montagnards, who in turn gifted crossbows as a token of appreciation, creating the Crossbow Nation. Now the Airmen of the 633d ABW at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, proudly wear the crossbow on their unit patches. (U.S. Air Force graphic by Airman 1st Class Olivia Bithell)
