Branding design for the Emergency Management section of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District. The vector graphic uses the acronym ‘EM’ as the logos marquee feature. The towering letters loosely resemble a fort tower with a waving USACE flag on top. The letter divides the logo into two distinct halves; one being the darker, emergency half – with the ‘E,’ and the second have being the resolved, lighter, management side of the logo with the ‘M’. Imagery reinforces the dual nature concept with the tornado, rain and flowing spillway on the left, while the warmer colors and the closed gates of the spillway on the right denote the managed aftermath. The area of responsibility is marked by a map while the ring around the logo verbally shows the agency. The logo was created from a sketch on paper that was photographed and brought into Adobe Illustrator to be digitally redrawn as a vector graphic. (U.S. Army graphic by Josh Plueger).
