This new logo, created for the re-opening of the Nosedive lounge in the Langley Riverview Event Center at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, features an artistic representation of Captain Jim Hagneback’s P-38 Lightning, “Bat out of Hell", as it was painted in the summer of 1943. Captain Hagenback was awarded a Silver Star and two Distinguished Flying Crosses during his time with the US Army Air Forces in the Mediterranean and the US Air Force in Korea. With the 50th anniversary of 1st Fighter Wing's move to JBLE coming in 2025, the new logo celebrates their legacy and acknowledges their value as a partner in JBLE's mission of global power projection.
