This year marks the 80th anniversary of the invasion of Normandy, code name Operation Overlord. The beach landing began at 6:30 a.m. The Allies landed on five beaches, code names Gold, Juno, Omaha, Sword and Utah. Allied Forces suffered nearly 10,000 causalities, including 4,000 confirmed dead.
