June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month — a time to raise awareness about brain health, recognize the impact of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, and encourage healthy habits that support cognitive wellness throughout life.
While there is no guaranteed way to prevent Alzheimer’s disease, healthy lifestyle choices may help support long-term brain health:
• Stay physically active
• Keep your mind engaged through learning and social connection
• Prioritize quality sleep
• Manage blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes
• Eat a balanced, heart-healthy diet
• Avoid tobacco use and limit alcohol consumption
It’s also important to recognize possible warning signs, including memory loss that disrupts daily life, confusion with time or place, difficulty completing familiar tasks, or changes in mood and personality.
If you have concerns about your memory, cognitive health, or overall wellness, don’t ignore them. Early conversations and evaluations matter.
