Photo illustration by Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Julie Vujevich. Product was created as a template for USS George Washington's new command logo shoulder patch, authorized to replace the Don't Tread on Me patch. George Washington's patch was among the first to be designed, printed, and worn, and was unveiled during a "Key to Bastille" ceremony on the ship's Flight Deck, Jun. 4, 2019. The logo models George Washington's original headquarters or "battle" flag with 13 stars arranged on a solid background with the words "FIRST IN WAR, FIRST IN PEACE", an ode to a eulogy given to President Washington by Henry Lee, who stated that Washington was, "First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen."
