PEARL HARBOR (Nov. 7, 2019) A graphic illustration made to honor Veteran's Day. Veterans Day, formerly known as Armistice Day, was originally established as a U.S. holiday to honor the end of World War I, Nov. 11, 1918. Following both World War II and the Korean War, congress approved of a new legislation in 1954 making November 11 a day to honor veterans of all wars. In 1968, the official date of the holiday shifted to the fourth Monday of October but then was restored to November 11, by President Gerald R. Ford in 1975.
