Petty Officer 3rd class Jonathan Adkins, aviation boatswains mate, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp, attempts to throw while being taken out by a runner against Assault Craft Unit 4 during the Surface Line Week softball tournament at Naval Station Norfolk. Wasp won the game 8 to 7 to advance in the tournament. Surface Line Week is a weeklong series of competitive events, during which Hampton Roads-area surface warriors show off their professional and athletic prowess. It is an opportunity to promote greater coordination and communication among surface warriors, to build esprit de corps and camaraderie and to recognize professional excellence across the force.
