A great egret takes flight from a creek flowing through Tinker Air Force Base recently. According to Tinker officials, the seasonal time for large numbers of birds migrating south for the winter is near. Each year, more than 10 million migratory birds— including egrets, cranes, ducks, geese and pelicans — travel through Oklahoma and the rest of the Central Flyway twice a year.
