Marines from the 1st Marine Corps District, Recruiting Station New York, and 6th Communications Battalion, run in a formation lead by Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Dakota Meyer and Col. J. J. Dill, the 1MCD commanding officer, during the Tunnel to Towers run in Manhattan Sept. 29. Tunnel to Towers, a 5-kilometer run, is held annually in honor of firefighter Stephen Siller. Siller, who ran to the World Trade Center through the Battery Tunnel with all his gear on during the attacks on 9/11, ultimately lost his life during his attempt to save others.
