U.S. Marine Gunnery Sergeant Jimmy Ferriss, a gunner observer with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron163, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), fires an M-240G machine gun from the door of an H-1 Huey helicopter, while participating in a live-fire range during Exercise Bright Star, Sept. 24. The exercise is designed to enhance the interoperability and cohesiveness of coalition forces through various training scenarios, to include amphibious and combined-arms operations. The six-week exercise affords U.S. service members the opportunity to build awareness and relationships with the host nation of Egypt and fellow coalition forces.
