Petty Officer 2nd Class Jeremy A. Cieplich fires a GAU-21/A .50 caliber machine gun mounted in an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter at simulated enemy personnel during a live-fire, close-air support training Dec. 10 Farallon de Medinilla Target Range, Northern Mariana Islands Target Range. The MH-60S’s are currently forward deployed to the island of Tinian, coordinating with Marine Corps units during Exercise Forager Fury II. During this training, MAW aviation units are able to practice, train for, and execute the six functions of Marine aviation: assault support, anti-aircraft warfare, offensive air support, electronic warfare, control of aircraft and missiles, and aerial reconnaissance.
