    Kodiak, AK--The Coast Guard Cutter Sherman (WHEC 720) patrols the waters off of Alaska. The high endurance cutter's primary missions are law enforcement, defense operations and search and rescue. The Coast Guard has12 high endurance cutters based at various ports across the United States. The ships have a maximum speed of 29 knots and a cruising range of 14,000 miles.
