NEW YORK, New York (Oct. 22, 2003)--Coast Guard members from Activities New York, Station New York and Air Station Atlantic City recently provided the US Secret Service New York Field Office with some basic maritime operations and law enforcement training. The training included a one-day classroom session that outlined the Coast Guard's Use of Force Policy, the standing Rues of Engagement, security zone enforcement, boarding procedures, nautical terminology, basic water survival, survival gear overview and hypothermia recognition and treatment. Secret Service agents also participated in a cold-water survival swim and conducted joint patrols and boarding with Station New York designed to increase cooperation and operational familiarity during future Presidential and dignitary protection operations.
