New London, Conn. (May 19, 2004) -- Regimental Review for the Coast Guard Academy 122nd Commencement Exercises featuring keynote speaker Vice President Dick Cheney. Drill practice, regimental reviews, formations and other ceremonies add value to a cadet's development an serve as a reminder of the military nature of the Academy and proud heritage of our service. It is intended that self-discipline, patience, precision, obedience, teamwork, accountability and command presence become familiar habits to all cadets. These events also serve as a visual reminders of the military spirit needed for both the profession of humanitarian and public service and the profession of arms which future Coast Guard officers embrace; they are reminders to the people who live within the barracks and to the people who trust us to serve this nation.
