Honolulu, HI (Dec. 9) -- SN Byan Grebe uses a blow torch to cut the pin on a "heat and beat" shackle from the 18,000-lb. Hotel buoy. After eight hours of labor which included surfacing, painting, replacing two-60-lb. batteries and solar panels, the buoy was re-set to its station one mile off Honolulu Harbor. Serviced bi-annually, the 35-ft. safewater buoy is the largest in the Hawaiian Islands. USCG photo by PA2 Sarah Foster-Snell
