Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on Isla San Cristobal, GALAPAGOS ISLAND (Jan. 26)--When the Gulf Strike Team arrived to assist the Ecuadorian government with the oil spill from the tank vessel Jessica, the stricken tanker was listing heavily to the starboard side. The tank vessel Jessica ran hard aground in the Galapagos archipelago Jan. 16, spilling about 200,000 gallons of oil into a pristine environment known for unique wildlife and aquatic species.
