Chicago, IL ? (Dec 1, 2007) -- The Chicago Christmas Ship, AKA the Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw (WLBB-30) arrives at Chicago?s Navy Pier to deliver Christmas trees to needy Chicago-area families. The crew of the Mackinaw brings the trees from Michigan's Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin for distribution to more than a thousand disadvantaged families. The Chicago Christmas Ship Committee, which purchased the trees, represents diverse aspects of the Chicago boating community such as the Coast Guard Auxiliary, International Shipmaster's Association and the Chicago Yachting Association.
