On March 14, 1990, Coast Guard cutter STORIS and an HH3F "Pelican" helicopter, both out of Kodiak, Alaska successfully saved all crewmembers of the crabber ALASKAN MONARCH off St. Paul Island as the vessel was being crushed on the rocks by pounding waves of ice.
