The Thirteenth Coast Guard District selected Petty Officer 2nd Class Elizabeth Stevens, a Health Services Technician at Group-Air Station North Bend as the 2007 Active Duty Enlisted Person of the Year (EPOY).Stevens presently serves as Group-Air Station North Bend's medical clinic leading petty officer.While serving as the coordinator for the Group's 2007 influenza vaccine program, Stevens visited several outlying units to help ensure that 400 Coast Guard members received their vaccinations.Other notable achievements in the local community, both on and off duty, include:-Participated in the Relay for Life for breast cancer awareness; raised a total of $1,700.-Helped witha summer camp that provides outdoor activities to children living with cancer.-Volunteered as the assistant female tennis coach for Mansfield High School.-Organized a unit blood drive with the American Red Cross.-Event planner for the North Bend Coast Guard Spouses' Association.The EPOY Program is designed to recognize exemplary men and women from the active and reserve enlisted work force. Enlisted personnel who demonstrated sustained exceptional standards of proficiency and conduct, and whose military appearance and bearing consistently reflected Coast Guard's core values of honor, respect, and devotion to duty.
