BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine - In this photo released by the U.S. Coast Guard, Capt. James B. McPherson, Coast Guard Sector Northern New England Commander, together with Col. Joseph E. Fessenden of the Maine Marine Patrol sign an agreement, August 20, 2009, stating that the Coast Guard and the Maine Marine Patrol will continue working together to enforce maritime safety and security zones. This agreement is an extension to the original memorandum of agreement for joint enforcement efforts that was signed in March 2005. Since then, the Coast Guard and the Maine Marine Patrol have been working successfully together to protect sensitive marine areas and other security zones along the coast of Maine. This agreement requires effective communication and hard work from both agencies and is a testimony to the great working relationship that the Coast Guard and the Maine Marine Patrol have enjoyed for many years.
