ASTORIA, Ore. - Two Coast Guard 47-foot motor lifeboat crews comprised of members from smallboat stations throughout the Thirteenth District train in the surf at Umpqua River near Winchester Bay, Ore., Jan. 18, 2011.
This class, which was also taught at Coast Guard Station Siuslaw River, gives boat drivers from within the district the opportunity to practice and maintain their skills in the heavy surf conditions notorious to the Pacific Northwest.
