KENT, Wash. - A contractor at Kvichak Marine Industries welds a separate component critical to hull construction for a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium(RB-M) in the initial phase of manufacture Oct. 12, 2010. The RB-Ms will replace the aging 41-foot Utility Boats, which have been the workhorse of Coast Guard stations for more than a quarter of a century. One-half of the RB-Ms are built in Kent, Wash., by Marinette Marine Corporation's major subcontractor, Kvichak Marine Industries of Seattle.
