United States Coast Guard Cutter Midgett, conducting maritime surveillance patrols in U.S. waters in support of Vancouver 2010 Olympic security efforts. Operation Podium is the Canadian Forces contribution to the overall security of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in support of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police -led Integrated Security Unit. During Podium, the Canadian Navy will conduct coordinated maritime surveillance patrols in the approaches to Vancouver Harbour, contribute to waterborne security operations within Vancouver Harbour and perform underwater sweeps of Olympic venues.
