BM1 April Rex, a Coast Guard reservist out of Station Port Allerton, helps deploy an oil skimmer during a training exercise aboard a converted commercial shrimping vessel, June 27. Rex and other reservists are working to train civilian boat crews to set up and deploy Coast Guard skimming equipment on Vessels of Opportunity. They run daily exercises to keep boat crews up to speed on the process.
