SAN FRANCISCO - The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf, homeported at Coast Guard Island, Alameda, Calif., transits out of the San Francisco Bay and into the Pacific Ocean as it starts a deployment, Friday, March 9, 2012.
