Accompanying Hammond on the tour of the area were Lt. Col. D. Scott McKean, the commander of 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, along with Sgt. 1st Class Jeffrey Rogers, Hammond's personal security officer.
