A GOES-12 infrared satellite image provided by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Monterey, Calif. shows the status of Hurricane Ike at approximately 4:15 a.m. EST Friday, Sept. 12, 2008. Ike has maximum sustained winds of 105 mph and a forward movement of about 13 mph. Ike is expected to strike near Galveston, Texas, as a major hurricane late Friday or early Saturday morning.
