Petty Officer 2nd Class Mitch Karasch, assigned to the 'Black Eagles' of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 4, performs maintenance on a tail rudder of an SH-60F Seahawk on the flight deck of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan. As an aviation electrician's mate, Karasch installs and maintains wiring for flight and engine instrument systems, which include automatic flight control, stabilization, aircraft compass, attitude reference, and inertial navigations systems. Ronald Reagan is currently deployed in the 5th Fleet/NAVCENT area of responsibilities. Operations in the NAVCENT area of operations are focused on reassuring regional partners of the United States' commitment to security, which promotes stability and global prosperity.
