Staff Sgt. R.J. Biermann, 341st Missile Wing Public Affairs NCO in charge, wears proper personal protective equipment while riding a bicycle at Malmstrom Air Force Base on Sept. 17, 2013. Effective Sept. 12, all bicyclists on an Air Force installation must wear a highly-visible outer garment during the day and outer garment containing retro-reflective materials at night, according to Air Force Instruction 91-207. The 341st MW Safety Office recommends all airmen riding bicycles in uniform wear a vest, such as the one shown. For those not in uniform riding bicycles on the base, the same type vest or a similar highly-visible outer garment must be worn. Reflective belts do not suffice as a highly visible outer garment by themselves, but may be used to add visibility and supplement required garments.
