Several NATO AWACS sit on the E-3A Component flightline at NATO Air Base Geilenkirchen, Germany, on Jan. 28, 2010. While 17 E-3A aircraft are assigned to the Component, normally only a certain number are in Geilenkirchen at any given time. The remainder are deployed to the Component’s Forward Operating Bases in Aktion, Greece; Trapani, Italy; and Konya, Turkey; and to the Forward Operating Location at Oerland, Norway; or other allied airfields.
