U.S. Army soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division conduct an Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise at the Asymmetric Warfare Training Center's Urban Complex Feb. 24-26, at Fort A.P. Hill, Va. Part of the EDRE took place within the confines of an embassy-like building at the AWTC in order to make the exercise scenario as realistic as possible. The EDRE, a training scenario that requires the Paratroopers to assemble and be ready to deploy anywhere in the world at a moment's notice, is one example of the many operational uses for the AWTC.
