Army Sgt. 1st Class Shane Saylor, the maintenance noncommissioned officer in charge for the 1107th Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group's Kuwait detachment, 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), 1st Theater Sustainment Command, sits at the controls of a Flexible Engine Diagnostic System (FEDS) March 17, 2014, at Patton Army Airfield in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Saylor has spent hundreds of hours testing and troubleshooting helicopter engines for the CH-47 Chinook, UH-60 Black Hawk and AH-64 Apache by using the FEDS' complex diagnostic programs. On average a pair of FEDS operators will spend an hour and a half testing an engine for the Black Hawk and Apache and four to six hours running tests for a Chinook engine.
