Mariolbis Walker, Lance Cpl. Kalib Walker’s wife, holds their newborn daughter, Kylie, after Kalib left the United States for a seven-month deployment to Afghanistan. Kalib, an automatic rifleman with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, and a native of Freeport, N.Y., has been able to occasionally see his wife and child through video messaging since arriving in Afghanistan.
