Members of the Oregon and Hawaii National Guard's CBRNE Enhanced Response Force Package (CERFP), unite in formation after they finished their mission, while participating in the Vigilant Guard-Alaska 2014 exercise, March 30, near Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska. The two units were training to respond to a large-scale earthquake scenario as this exercise tied in to Alaska Shield, a series of complex exercises addressing catastrophic planning, response, and recovery over the course of nearly two years that build on a series of four prior statewide Alaska Shield exercises. The Oregon National Guard's CERFP unit is the first in the U.S. to rapidly deploy not only personnel but also all the units equipment, trucks, and trailers to include the decontamination trailer on military aircraft.
