Naval Aircrewman (Operator) 2nd Class Clark Urbin, assigned to Patrol Squadron (VP) 16, deploys a MK-58 smoke marker out of the freefall chute of a P-8A Poseidon aircraft while flying over the Indian Ocean in support of the international search effort to locate Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. Smoke markers are used as a visual aid in directing ships to the vicinity of where potential items of debris may be located in the water. VP-16 is deployed throughout the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
