Lt. Col. (Dr.) Tim Cathey was a passenger aboard a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, like the one pictured, when the aircraft was diverted from its mission to rescue an Iraqi soldier injured by an improvised explosive device. The mission took the doctor over Baghdad and into the countryside where American Soldiers had prepared the Iraqi for transport. With nothing more than the basic medical supplies contained in the standard issue combat first aid kit, as displayed in front of him, Doctor Cathey managed to treat and stabilize his patient as the Black Hawk pilot skillfully flew at top speeds to get them to a combat field hospital. Doctor Cathey is deployed to the 447th Expeditionary Medical Squadron near Baghdad International Airport from the 137th Medical Group at the Will Rogers Air National Guard Base in Oklahoma City.
