CAB Soldiers continue versatile training, recertify on mobile refueling systems

Two Soldiers from Company E, 4th Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment, Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad, prepare to begin refueling operations as an AH-64D Apache attack helicopter lands at an Advanced Aviation Forward Area Refueling System site at Camp Taji on Nov. 24. The AAFARS is a modular, portable, lightweight refueling apparatus designed for rapid refueling of forward-area military aircraft. During the exercise Soldiers from both Co. D and Co. E validated the mobile system which features four 500-gallon collapsible fuel drums powered by a 17 Shaft Horse Power engine capable of pumping 240 gallons-per-minute. Soldiers from the brigade have been conducting the refueling exercises throughout the month of November.
