Some Marines never have the opportunity to visit these hallowed grounds in their lifetimes but the timing was perfect for this one to dedicate another four years to the Marine Corps. Sergeant Nancy Guillaume is reenlisted by the 35th Commandant of the Marine Corps, General James F. Amos in front of "Devil Dog Fountain" in the small village of Belleau, France which is only a short walk from the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and the grounds where the Battle of Belleau Wood was fought 96 years ago. Guillaume hails from Linden, New Jersey and is a reserve Marine on active duty serving as an administrative clerk for Marine Forces Europe and Africa in Stuttgart, Germany. This was her first reenlistment and when asked about her experience, she said, "to renew my oath of enlistment in a place where thousands gave the ultimate sacrifice was beyond an honor. I was deeply humbled and this was my way of carrying on their legacy. Unequivocally, this was the most memorable day of my Marine Corps career!
