The Wasp–class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) hosts a change of command ceremony. Capt. Peter M. Mantz relieved Capt. Joker L. Jenkins as commanding officer of Essex. Mantz is the 19th commanding officer of Essex since its commissioning in 1992. Essex recently completed an aviation certification and is scheduled for a deployment in 2015.
