Lt. Col. Fataeh Rashad Hamad, commander of the 2nd Battalion, 23rd Brigade, 17th Iraqi Army, was in charge of the Sons of Iraq member pay day activity at Patrol Base Lions Den on Dec. 19. Hamad's soldiers paid more than 1,250 SoI members during the day. Soldiers from Company B, 1st Battalion, 63rd Combined Arms Battalion, which is currently assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Multi-National Division-Baghdad provided overwatch and assistance for the SoI and IA.
